Solidarity with Stop Bzdurom and freedom for Margot Szutowicz!

Riot66, a trans liberation network in the UK, express our complete solidarity with Stop Bzdurom (“Stop Bullshit”) and call for the release of Margot Szutowicz.

Stop Bzdurom is a radical, feminist, queer collective based in Warsaw Poland.

We have been following the developments of Poland’s descent into theocracy with growing concern. From the “LGBT Ideology Free Zones” which now comprise 1/3 of the land of Poland to the ongoing police support of hateful trucks proclaiming that LGBT is paedophilia and arrests of those who protest them, the signs of an increasingly authoritarian anti-queer and anti-trans nationalism are unmistakable.

Stop Bzdurom have engaged in brave and necessary actions to counter this reactionary trend, and their members are now being increasingly subject to arrest by secret police, raids and the threat of custodial sentences for profanity against religion and protesting already illegal homophobic vans.

On the 4th of August, Margot Szutowicz of the collective Stop Bzdurom was arrested in a violent raid by undercover police at a friends home, while Łania Madej and another activist were arrested in their homes, all for the “crime” of placing rainbow flags on a number of statues around Warsaw, one of which was a statue of Jesus.

Yesterday Margot has been detained again for previous charges relating to a stopping a van with a homophobic message after the prosecutor has appealed her bail. Margot is a trans woman.

At least 48 other people were also arrested in an extreme display of police force despite the fact Margot offered herself to the police willingly several times.

We call for everyone who can to support the crowd-fund for Stop Bzdurom and offer any support available.
